We are all born with youthful, healthy skin, but life events and aging take that youthful glow and elasticity. There are things we can do to help our skin look healthy, beautiful, and glowing though. We all know the dangers of the sun so we try to protect our skin from that obviously, but did you know you can also protect your skin from the inside with a healthy diet? Here is our list of the 5 Best Foods to Eat for Beautiful, Healthy Skin.

  1. Tomatoes – Got acne? Eating any tomato-based foods, like sauce and tomato juice, may help! “Lycopene [the phytochemical that makes tomatoes red] may lower an acne-promoting hormone,” says Alan Logan.
  2. Strawberries – Did you know strawberries have more anti-aging Vitamin C per serving than oranges or grapefruit? Vitamin C fights free radicals which damage cells and break down collagen, leading to fine lines.
  3. Honey – Honey is a natural humectant, which means that it both attracts moisture and helps lock it in. Slather a teaspoon of honey on your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and reap the benefits of healthier, glowing skin.
  4. Eggs – Egg yolks are an important source of Vitamin A which helps your skin repair itself. Egg whites are rich in protein which has skin toning properties and helps with wrinkles.
  5. Yogurt – Prevent wrinkles with Yogurt! “The protein you get from eating dairy helps skin become firmer, so it’s more resistant to lines,” Dr. Wu says. Greek yogurt is especially beneficial. Eat one single serving per day for a smoother complexion.
