Benefits of Coconut Oil Pulling and How-to-Guide

September 9, 2015 by April Decheine 2 Comments

An ancient Ayurvedic ritual, Coconut Oil Pulling, is a magical oral detoxification achieved simply by swishing coconut, sesame, or olive oil in your mouth for 5-20 minutes. Read the health benefits here and find out how to do it.

Health Benefits of Coconut Oil Pulling
Used in Ayurvedic medicine, Coconut Oil Pulling is a fantastic oral detoxification process that is achieved simply by swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 5-20 minutes. Oil pulling works by detoxifying the oral cavity. It sucks the toxins out of your mouth that hinder the proper flow of dental liquid that is needed to prevent cavities and disease.

Coconut oil is effective in attacking Streptococcus Mutans bacteria which causes cavities. It is rich in medium chain triglycerides and high in lauric acid. Coconut oil has a multitude of uses from health remedies, to cooking, and even to add to your daily beauty routine.

HOW TO COCONUT OIL PULL

  • Place 1-2 teaspoons Organic Coconut Oil into your mouth.
  • Swish it around for up to 20 minutes.
  • The goal is to swish the oil around long enough for it to turn a milky white, which means the bacteria has been “pulled” off.
  • Just like at the dentist, spit the oil out, and rinse.

We hope you found this information on Coconut Oil Pulling helpful and we encourage you to use coconut oil whenever possible because it really is a great product with many health benefits and uses. Should the coconut oil be warmed to a liquid state before swishing in mouth? Thanks!

When you put it in your mouth and start swishing, it turns to liquid! ;-)
