Head to the farmers market and stock up because you need to make this Blueberry Lilac Sake Spritzer! Perfect for outdoor entertaining, happy hour, or Sunday brunch, this summer cocktail is as beautiful as it is delicious.
To make this cocktail, all you need is 1/4 cup blueberries and one tablespoon of lilac flowers, mull them together with two tablespoons of simple syrup. Mash it all together to release all the flavors and the floral notes of the berries and the flowers.
Then you layer 1/4 cup of crushed ice on top and pour over two ounces of sake. It’s important to pick a sake that is on the sweeter side. When buying one, read the tasting notes on the bottle and look for one that has a fruity description. Also make sure that the ideal serving temperature is cold. That will also be indicated on the bottle.
Time to garnish this cocktail
To dress up the blueberry lilac sake spritzer and to add some freshness, you can also add some strips of cucumber. To make the strips all you need is a regular vegetable peeler. Just make sure when you make the strips that you get the majority of the skin and flesh avoiding the seeds. You will need about three to five strips depending on how long your cucumber is.
After adding in the sake, add two to three ounces of soda water for that pop of effervescence in your mouth. Now comes the fun part! To dress up your Blueberry Lilac Sake Spritzer, take a strip of cucumber and place it on top of the drink and then arrange some more lilacs with some fresh mint leaves for garnish.
Seriously, how pretty is this drink? It’s also different and refreshing with just hints of the sake that comes at you now and then while you are sipping it. Now can’t you imagine holding this summer cocktail under a nice, shady tree when it’s 90 degrees outside?
