The Aperol Spritz is making a comeback for a reason! This Italian classic cocktail consists of Aperol, Prosecco, orange and lime slices, and club soda. Perfect for dinner parties or happy hour, the vibrant color and flavors add to the joy of any occasion!
A newer classic cocktail makes its comeback!
Imagine yourself sitting outside on a hot sunny day, in a quintessential Italian café sipping the most refreshing cocktail you have ever experienced. Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore because you can make this Aperol Spritz to experience that taste at home!
While I can’t transport you to an Italian café, you can enjoy this classic, not-too-sweet and slightly bitter, cocktail in the comfort of your own home. This Aperol Spritz is no fuss, easy, and classy. Impress your friends and family with a different cocktail this holiday season! It’s fresh and has all the bubble and citrus zest you need.
Who wouldn’t want to sip on this pretty, bright red-orange, festive, yet not over-the-top cocktail?
What you’ll need to make your Aperol Spritz:
- 4 1/2 oz Prosecco (Brut)
- 2 1/2 oz Aperol
- 2 lime slices
- 2 orange slices
- 1 oz (splash) club soda
Helpful Kitchen Tools for Aperol Spritz:
- chef’s knife
- cutting board
- a wine or other type of cocktail glass
- wet measure
- ice cube tray
- optional: straw, stir
The importance of using the right glass:
You can use a wine glass (as I did in the photos) since the cocktail does use a sparkling wine, but a Tom Collins or Old Fashioned glass is fine too.
The classic Aperol Spritz cocktail recipe only requires one orange or one lime slice, but why not have both?
How would you customize this Spritz for happy hour?
I can imagine serving it with festive and colorful straws even though it’s not traditional to serve it with any adornments. Since it has that bright orange-red color at the bottom of the glass and the citrus slices, it doesn’t really need anything else!

Home Chef Tip: 1) Chill your wine glass for 5-10 minutes so that the glass is extra cold for the cocktail. 2) You can use a wine glass (as I did in the photos) since the cocktail does use a sparkling wine, but a Tom Collins or Old Fashioned glass is fine too.
