Cheers to our new favorite sangria recipe!
Last year, I served Apple Cider Sangria, and although we all loved it, I wanted to switch things up this year. Apple Cranberry Sangria seemed like the perfect drink for entertaining guests. My family of taste testers absolutely loved this sangria. It’s not too sweet, it’s full of comforting flavors, and it’s incredibly easy to throw together. It’s the perfect accompaniment to your winter holiday meals or parties.
Don’t forget the sugared cranberries!
If you want to make your sangria feel a little extra fancy, you can garnish it with sugared cranberries. There are just two simple steps. Toss fresh cranberries with maple syrup, then roll the cranberries in granulated sugar. Let them set up in the fridge and then you’ll have a pretty, sparkly, edible garnish for your holiday cocktail. You can put them on cocktail picks or drop a few into each glass as you serve them.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine (I used Pinot Noir)
- 2 cups sweetened cranberry juice
- 1/3 cup apple brandy (optional)
- 2 apples, sliced
- 1 orange, halved and sliced
- 3/4 cup fresh cranberries
- 3 cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and stir to combine.
- Refrigerate for several hours to let the flavors combine.
- Serve chilled with sugared cranberries, if using (see note).
Notes
Home Chef Tip: Create a festive garnish by making sugared cranberries: Toss 1/2 cup fresh cranberries with 1 tablespoon maple syrup. Remove with a slotted spoon and roll the cranberries in 1/3 cup granulated sugar. Place on a plate and refrigerate until set.
