Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich

November 11, 2017 by Precious Nkeih Leave a Comment

This Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich full of fresh greens and creamy avocado is a simple updated way to enjoy this year’s holiday leftovers. It’s an easy and satisfying meal!

I was just looking over your post and we have a quick edit! Your post is wonderful and includes lot of handy uses for the vitamix, but our instructions ask for step-by-step photos. Your hacks are all super wonderful, but as the post is built now, the photos suggest the post is simply an ad for vitamix and the hacks are a list of recipe ideas with no recipes! We'd like for you to either choose one hack to show with step-by-step photos per the instructions, or provide as many links as you can for the vitamix hacks so viewers have somewhere to go to find out how to actually do the hack. In the original instructions for the shop, we say that recipes aren't necessary for the influencers that submitted ideas like how to preserve guacamole and how to open a can without a can open, but for this post to be cohesive, a recipe would be best!

Hello and welcome to this episode of sandwiches are the best! You can also call this how to rock your holiday leftovers. You know, you don’t have to mourn over so much turkey sitting in your fridge/freezer this year because of this Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich idea!

Ditch the deli meat for this awesome tasty alternative – roast turkey from your very own holiday table. When you try this, you will want to have leftover turkey every year just so you can make sandwiches. It’s a promise.

You only need a few handy ingredients for this avocado turkey sandwich: cooked turkey, avocado, mayonnaise, a few onion slices, some lettuce, and some cheese!

Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich

I start off by toasting some bread. Toasting the bread is totally optional, but I highly recommend it. Why eat regular bread when you can toast it? Also, I used brat buns, but just any bread will work. My Easy One-Hour Homemade Bread Recipe would be a great alternative. Another great way to enjoy this would be to place all of the ingredients in a tortilla wrap or some form of flat bread and wrap then enjoy. After toasting, I rub some mayo on one side of the bun and place some cheese on the other side.

Then I add the turkey, some lettuce, and avocado. You could equally top with cucumbers and tomatoes. So good!

I also add some sliced onion for a little kick. That’s pretty much it. In under ten minutes, you have an insanely delicious, wholesome Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich!

This Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich is full of flavor from the turkey, creaminess from the avocado, and freshness from the lettuce. It is meaty, so tasty, and filling. You can’t beat that flavor! My kids and I had our turkey avocado sandwiches for lunch – our plates were cleared and our hearts were merry. Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!

Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 2 servings

Leftover Turkey Avocado Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped/shredded roasted turkey
  • 1 avocado - sliced
  • 2 brat buns or 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 tsp mayo
  • 2 slices cheese of choice ( I used American cheese)
  • 1 ounce sliced onion
  • 2 large green leaf lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut buns open. Toast lightly if so desired.
  2. Spread a teaspoon of mayo on one side of each set of bread. Cut cheese into 2 and place on the other side of the buns.
  3. Add the turkey to one side of the buns. Then add the lettuce leaves and avocado slices to the other side. Add sliced onions to the top of each.
  4. Cover bread then cut into two and enjoy!

Notes

Home Chef Tip: Use sandwich bread instead of brat buns if you so desire. If you choose to use sandwich bread, one slice of bread will work as one side of a brat bun. Add more vegetables to your sandwich for more freshness and nutrition. Tomato and cucumber slices will work perfectly!
