  • Red Wine Chocolate Cake:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened, room temperature
  • 1½ cups dark brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2⅔ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp expresso powder
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt
  • 1⅓ cup The Dreaming Tree 2013 Crush (Red Blend)
  • ⅓ cup whole milk, room temperature
  • Chocolate Buttercream:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened, room temperature
  • 3½ cups confectioners' sugar
  • ¼ tsp fine sea salt
  • 2.5 oz 70% dark chocolate, melted, slightly cooled
  • caramel sauce, homemade or store-bought, as needed
  • Red Wine Soaking Syrup:
  • ¼ cup The Dreaming Tree 2013 Crush (Red Blend)
  • ¼ cup simply syrup*
