- 4 large eggs
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2⅔ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp expresso powder
- ½ tsp fine sea salt
- 1⅓ cup The Dreaming Tree 2013 Crush (Red Blend)
- ⅓ cup whole milk, room temperature
- Chocolate Buttercream:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened, room temperature
- 3½ cups confectioners' sugar
- ¼ tsp fine sea salt
- 2.5 oz 70% dark chocolate, melted, slightly cooled
- caramel sauce, homemade or store-bought, as needed
- Red Wine Soaking Syrup:
- ¼ cup The Dreaming Tree 2013 Crush (Red Blend)
- ¼ cup simply syrup*
