It’s time for fall flavors, finally!

Fall is here! Just about everyone that I know loves this time of year. We all have our own reasons: the cooler weather, the spiced lattes, the football games, or the excuse to finally get your favorite sweater out of your closet. I love Autumn for all of these reasons. But, I also love the great, fall-inspired food and drink flavors. Whether it is pumpkin, apple, caramel, or all of them combined together into one delicious dish, I’m all about fall flavors!

I also love a good cocktail. One of my favorite cocktails has always been the classic Old Fashioned. There is just something about this drink that I’ve always loved. The warm bourbon mixed with bitters and simple syrup hits me in all the right places!

I thought it would be fun to make a Fall-Inspired Old Fashioned Cocktail recipe. I’d like to introduce you to this Apple Butter Old Fashioned, your new favorite cocktail.

The best bourbon-based cocktail you’ll ever love!

This may be the best cocktail I’ve ever had. It is one of those drinks that you have to try really hard not to drink too fast. Obviously, you want to take your time and enjoy it. There is 1.5 oz of bourbon in here! Be careful and drink responsibly!

I dipped the rim of my glass into some apple cider and then coated it with sugar. This is optional, there is already a lot of sweet flavor in the drink and the sugar around the rim may be too much for some. Another option would be to mix some cinnamon and sugar together and use that to coat your rim.

I highly recommend using a large, slow melting ice cube for this drink. You can find molds for them online and they aren’t too expensive. The key ingredient to a lot of good cocktails is using the right sized, high quality ice! This is certainly true in this cocktail.

I’m sure that a virgin version of this drink is also possible by simply omitting the bourbon. You could also try subbing the bourbon for Ginger Ale!
