This Fall-Inspired Apple Bourbon Sour is a seasonal twist on the classic whiskey sour. Bourbon, apple juice, lemon juice, and a pinch of cinnamon make the perfect cocktail for happy hour entertaining!
What’s your favorite fall flavor combo?
In my house, nothing says fall like the scent of apple cinnamon. It’s my personal favorite fall flavor combo (sorry, pumpkin!). I wanted to make a cocktail reminiscent of fall that was refreshing rather than warm. Don’t get me wrong – I love mulled wine and spiked cider, but this time of year in California, when the weather is still in the 80s, a refreshing cold cocktail is all I want.
Since bourbon is my favorite liquor for fall, I made this fall twist on a classic whiskey sour. You absolutely have to try this Fall-Inspired Apple Bourbon Sour for yourself!
What’s in a traditional whiskey sour?
A traditional whiskey sour is made with whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and sometimes an egg white to give the cocktail a silky frothiness. Although an egg white would probably help this cocktail shine, I have to admit I’m a little turned off by drinking raw eggs. You do you though! Because the apple juice is sweet and prominent in this version of the classic cocktail, I felt it didn’t need any additional sugar.
I know these copper mugs are reserved for Moscow mules, but copper is so perfect for fall. I couldn’t resist using them for this drink recipe! Served ice cold with a fresh apple slice and a cinnamon stick, an apple bourbon sour is like fall in a mug. Can I have apple cinnamon everything from now until February?!
Ingredients
- 2 shots bourbon

- 1 cup apple juice
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Ice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake well.

Notes
Home Chef Tip: The apple juice adds sweetness, but if you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add a little bit of simple syrup, especially a cinnamon flavored one!
