These insanely decadent Cranberry Bliss Truffles were inspired by Starbucks’ Cranberry Bliss Bars. There’s nothing difficult about making these, they only use up about 15 minutes of your time, and the rest is done by your fridge.
Let’s talk truffles. Truffles are one of those desserts that always seems too rich for my blood – they’re usually very expensive, and when you’re only holding one tiny truffle in your hand after you’ve shelled out a few bucks… well, it’s a little depressing. My solution? Make your own!
These insanely decadent Cranberry Bliss Truffles were inspired by one of my favorite holiday treats – Starbucks’ Cranberry Bliss Bars. There’s nothing difficult about making these – well, aside from the self-restraint you need to let them set in the fridge. The work you need to do only uses up about 15 minutes of your time – the rest is done by your fridge.
I brought these into my office and people went nuts over them! If that’s any indication of the popularity you’ll see, I’d say you’ve got a home run on your hands. Make a batch (or two) of these for your next holiday party and watch how quickly you make new friends. Seriously. These things are like new best friend magnets.
- 8 ounces white chocolate (chopped, or chips)
- 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 Tablespoon heavy whipping cream
- ½ teaspoon orange extract
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon grated orange peel
- Pinch of ginger
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup dried cranberries, diced
- Optional: additional white chocolate and dried cranberries for garnish
- In a double broiler over low heat, combine chocolate, butter, and heavy cream, and stir until melted and smooth.
- Add orange and vanilla extracts, orange peel, ginger, cinnamon, salt, and diced cranberries, and stir to combine.
- Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Place in fridge for a couple hours, or until it has firmed up and you no longer see liquid pooling on top.
- Cover a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
- Use a small cookie scoop (or melon baller or tablespoon) to scoop out mixture and roll into balls. Place each ball on the prepared baking sheet and place the sheet back in the fridge for 15-30 minutes.
- This is optional, but highly recommended: Melt some more white chocolate (1/4 cup will likely be plenty) and drizzle it over the balls. Top each with a whole dried cranberry. Enjoy!
