This Semi-Homemade Peppermint Brownies recipe makes holiday baking a breeze. Why start from scratch when you can buy a boxed mix and jazz it up with peppermint candies for a quick, fun, and festive treat?
One of my favorite flavors to enjoy around the holidays is the refreshing and sweet taste of peppermint. From candy canes to coffee creamer, it offers a warming holiday taste that I always associate with Christmas. Inspired by this traditional flavor, I created a delicious batch of Semi-Homemade Peppermint Brownies that not only tasted wonderful, but looked equally as festive thanks to the melted chocolate peppermints added while the brownies were still warm. This simple holiday recipe takes an easy-to-follow boxed brownie mix and adds a little festive flair to it with a simple add-in of peppermint candy.
Semi-Homemade Peppermint Brownies Recipe
First, I unwrapped several chocolate peppermint candies and gave them a rough chop.
Next, I prepared two boxes of brownie mix (according to the instructions on the box) in a large bowl.
And then added the chopped candies to the mixture.
Next, I transferred it all to a pan and baked it in the oven according to the box instructions.
Once the brownies were cooked, I added additional candies to the top while the pan was still warm, giving them some time to melt down.
After the candies had melted down, I placed the brownies into the fridge to cool down and allow the candies to harden back up.
Then I cut up the brownies and served them to my family. My niece and nephew were particularly excited, but I’m not even going to pretend I wasn’t just as excited as they were to enjoy one of these beautiful Peppermint Brownies together with them.
Holiday baking can seem intimidating or even overwhelming to some, especially those not familiar with working in the kitchen. But by taking a simple boxed mix and adding a little holiday touch to it, a whole new world of culinary delights can be opened up to even the most beginning of bakers.
