Break up the monotony of your back to school routine by starting their day with a fun breakfast. These simple French Toast Kabobs will be a huge hit at the breakfast table, putting a smile on the kids’ faces to start their day off right.
Now that we are a few weeks into the school year, my kids and I are finally hitting our stride. We have fallen into our school year routine quite nicely! But with routine comes the monotony. The same activities. The same after-school rush of homework and sports. The same food.
To help break up the monotony that comes with this time of year, I like to take family favorite meals and shake up the routine. It doesn’t just stop at dinners and after-school snacks. Breakfast is a great time to have a little fun and switch things up a bit. Even though I don’t have a lot of time in the morning to do anything elaborate, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with our breakfast.
One of our favorite breakfasts is French Toast. I finally found the best French Toast Recipe last month and they have been begging to make it ever since. The key is in the batter! I always struggled with soggy French Toast until I tried making this quick batter to coat the thickly sliced bread.
Since I know French Toast is a crowd favorite, I use it to help me combat one of the biggest fights in our house: not eating enough fruits and veggies. And I am not just talking about the kids! I have found that if I make it fun for everyone, the more willing everyone is to eat their fair share. To up our fruit intake, I made these French Toast Kabobs to pair our favorite breakfast with the perfect breakfast fruits: bananas and strawberries.
They were a hit! The kids gobbled them up quickly. They loved that they could eat while getting ready and we didn’t feel so rushed trying to get out the door. And since we walk to school, my little one even took one for the road. I call that an overall win in my book!
