Happy fall y’all! I’m Stacey, the girl behind Stacey Homemaker, and I can’t wait to share my brand spankin’ new recipe with you! It’s the best time of the year, smack dab in the middle of the holidays, and all I can do is think about food. That’s not unusual for me, at all, but it’s even more intense around the holidays. What food am I going to serve for Thanksgiving? Christmas? Holiday parties? Will I make my favorite pumpkin bread for my neighbors? What appetizer am I bringing to our friendsgiving dinner next week? Well, I actually decided that one already…
Are you ready for the easiest holiday appetizer recipe ever?!
Seriously, it’s so simple, I’m slapping myself for not thinking of it before. I could have definitely used this recipe last Thanksgiving. Well, at least it’s here now and you can use it for your Thanksgiving or holiday parties this year.
Don’t you hate recipes that keep you tied to the kitchen? When I have a party, I want to be out with my friends eating, drinking, and relaxing too! I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen, standing next to the stove, or stirring a pot for an hour. I want recipes that are simple, fast, and delicious. Except, I want them to look like they took hours to make. I know, I want the best of both worlds.
Well, these Cranberry Orange Basil Crostinis are the solution to our problem! They only take 10 minutes to make, and they look and taste like a million bucks.
Everything I used was already made, so all you have to do is toast the baguette rounds, and assemble the toppings right before you’re ready to serve it. Isn’t this the perfect holiday party appetizer? So simple! Toast, stir, top, sprinkle, and it’s time to eat!
Goat cheese is my favorite cheese, I put it on everything! Sandwiches, scrambled eggs, wraps, pasta, you name it! It’s so creamy and tangy, it’s the best cheese to pair with something sweet, like our topping. As my mom always says, “It’s the ying and the yang, that’s why it works.” As usual, she’s always right.
If you make this for Thanksgiving, you might already have cranberry sauce ready to go. If not, just buy a can of whole cranberry sauce, that’s what I used. Just make sure you get the whole cranberry version, I like to see the whole cranberries in the toppings.
- 1 baguette
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup whole cranberry sauce
- 1-10 oz can mandarin oranges, drained
- Sprinkle of ground cinnamon powder
- ¼ cup goat cheese
- ¼ cup dried cranberries
- ¼ cup basil, thinly sliced
- Sea salt
- 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
- Use a griddle to toast the baguette rounds. Drizzle olive oil over griddle, place baguette slices on the griddle. Toast until lightly brown, flip, and toast until golden. Mine took 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove from heat.
- While the rounds are toasting, pour the whole cranberry sauce, drained mandarin oranges, cinnamon, and dried cranberries into a medium bowl. Stir to combine. This is the topping.
- Spread a generous dollop of goat cheese on each toasted round.
- Spoon about one tablespoon worth onto each slice. Try to get an orange on each slice.
- Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the top of each crostini.
- Thinly slice the basil and sprinkle it generously over the top of the crostini platter.
- Give a few cranks of sea salt over the platter. The salt will bring out all the delicious flavor layers you just built!
- Serve warm, enjoy!
How pretty are all those colors? Cranberry and orange is a classic flavor combination, so you already know those pair perfectly together. Add the tangy goat cheese, and the brightness from the fresh basil and this is a real winner.
Don’t even get me started with the balsamic vinegar. Anything you drizzle balsamic glaze over turns to gold, like these twice baked sweet potatoes with balsamic onions! The best part? You don’t have to make it from scratch, you can buy it already made in a bottle. I really like this balsamic glaze
that I get at Trader Joe’s, it’s delicious.
