These 4-Ingredient Grilled Banana S’mores are a simple dessert perfect for outdoor entertaining. Just like the classic dessert, these s’mores use graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, but even better because they’re grilled right along side your burgers and corn directly in the peel!
When grilling season hits, we often think of burgers and hot dogs on the barbecue, but did you know you can also make some awesome desserts on the grill? These Grilled Banana S’mores are the perfect example of an easy dessert you can whip up right on the grill next to your burgers or corn on the cob.
Made with marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers, you’ve got all the flavors of the classic dessert, but with the tasty addition of a banana.
The banana also makes the perfect delivery method for all the delicious s’mores ingredients. To create the “banana boat” you need for these grilled banana s’mores, you’ll need to use a sharp knife to make a vertical cut into the banana. You’ll need to be careful not to cut entirely through to the bottom of the banana since you don’t want to actually separate the banana in half.
A grilled dessert no one can resist!
Instead, your cut should create a pocket inside the banana in which you can stuff marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crumbled graham crackers inside. The entire creation is then wrapped in a sheet of foil and placed over the grill to cook for about 7 to 10 minutes.
The result is absolutely sensational.
The banana in the dessert becomes tender and moist, while the chocolate chips become melted and gooey. The marshmallows take on their sticky, toasted consistency, making this banana s’mores treat irresistible.
Best of all, this dessert is an absolute cinch to make. You don’t have to be in a kitchen with any fancy equipment or tools; anywhere that you can find an intense source of heat, such as a grill or campfire, is suitable enough.
We love packing the ingredients for these banana s’mores on camping trips and cooking them over the fire at night as a more elaborate version of traditional s’mores. The flavor and texture of the heated banana is an addition we just can’t seem to get enough of!
Ingredients
- 4 bananas, peel intact
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- 4 graham cracker squares
- 4 sheets of foil
Instructions
- Set your grill to medium heat. Use a sharp knife to make a cut or slit in each banana, being careful not to cut all the way through so as to separate the banana. You should instead be left with a pocket in each banana.
- Stuff 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of marshmallows into each banana pocket. Follow with a crumbled graham cracker square.
- Place each banana on its own foil sheet and wrap each in the foil. Place the foil-wrapped bananas onto the grill and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, until the chocolate chips and marshmallows are gooey and the banana is tender.
- Remove from heat, serve, enjoy!
Notes
Home Chef Tip: If you want to make these banana s'mores at home in the kitchen, you can bake the foil-wrapped bananas at 350°F for about 15 to 20 minutes.
