These Grilled Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts are going to change the way you think about those tiny green cabbages. Sweet and salty with a little flavor from the grill makes these brussels sprouts a delicious appetizer.

Hello everyone, I am Elise Laney from Polka Dotted Blue Jay and I am excited to share the recipe that made me fall in love with brussels sprouts. That’s no small thing for a girl who doesn’t generally like to try new foods, especially when they are vegetables. It is a quick and easy recipe that you can use as an appetizer or as a main dish for your next dinner party.

I recommend doing all the prep-work at one time so that you can enjoy your Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts when they are hot off the grill.

Trimming and removing the outer leaves of the brussels sprouts is the most time-consuming part, but it doesn’t take too long. Start pre-heating your grill while you prep.

Once you have everything prepped, trimmed, and rinsed, toss the brussels sprouts in a large bowl with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Carefully place the brussels sprouts on the grill or use a grill basket if the spaces on your grill grate are too far apart. I recommend cooking the brussels sprouts on an outdoor grill as they do char and smoke; a lesson I learned the hard way.

Once your brussels sprouts look slightly charred and have grill lines (approximately 10-15 minutes) test to see if they are tender by inserting a fork. They should be firm, but the fork should also slide out with minimal effort.

Remove your grilled brussels sprouts from the grill and toss in a bowl with maple syrup and crumbled bacon. Taste and add brussels pepper as necessary. Serve in individual dishes or a large bowl for everyone to help themselves.

The sweet and salty taste of the maple syrup and bacon is the perfect complement to the slight bitterness of the brussels sprouts. These Grilled Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts are one of my favorite grilling snacks and they are perfect for eating by the pool in the summer or serving as part of a fancy family dinner.
