Serve these Champagne Shirley Temples at your New Year’s Eve get together and you’ll be bringing in the new year with a pop!
New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s a time of renewal and celebration. The next day, everything is brand new, full of second chances. We love having a small get together at home with friends and family. Nothing too elaborate, just potluck-style appetizers and desserts, and of course, a signature cocktail!
My friends and I came up with this delicious adult version of the classic Shirley Temple many years ago after talking about how sad it was that the bottles of champagne go to waste after they’re opened. It’s become our New Year’s Eve go-to cocktail ever since. I love serving cocktails that are made with ingredients that are easy to find and don’t cost an arm and a leg.
Champagne Shirley Temples Recipes
Because we like to enjoy these Champagne Shirley Temples as our “signature” New Year’s Eve cocktail, I make a big batch of it before my guests arrive. You could put out the ingredients and the recipe so that your guests can serve themselves, if you prefer. This cocktail is the perfect way to make sure the champagne doesn’t go to waste when the clock strikes midnight and you pop open the bubbly!
To make your own Champagne Shirley Temples, you’ll want to fill your glasses with crushed ice. Then fill each glass half way with grenadine and top it off with your favorite champagne. Garnish with oranges and cherries. I find that the crushed ice really soaks in the cherry goodness of the grenadine.
If you want to make a “mocktail” version of this classic twist, you can use Ginger Ale or Sparkling Cider instead of the Champagne.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of your favorite champagne
- 1 bottle of grenadine
- crushed ice
- oranges and cherries with stems for garnish
Instructions
- Fill glasses with crushed ice.
- Fill each glass half way with grenadine and top off glass with champagne.
- Garnish with oranges and cherries.
- Cheers!
Notes
Home Chef Tip: To make a kid-friendly mocktail, use Ginger Ale or Sparkling Cider in place of Champagne.
