Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
Every year I use the heat in the summer as my excuse to eat as much watermelon as I can. It’s seriously the perfect summer fruit. Cool, sweet, refreshing, and full of healthy benefits! To continue with my yearly watermelon-binge, I decided to replace my morning juice with a simple Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie. I added a dollop of yogurt to the smoothie to give it a little protein. I know it sounds weird to pair watermelon and yogurt together, but it works. Trust me! The tartness of the yogurt and the sweetness of the watermelon really go well together.
Watermelon and strawberries are so full of water, you don’t necessarily need to add ice, especially if your watermelon is super cold from the fridge. Feel free to use frozen watermelon and strawberries and leave out the ice in this Watermelon Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie recipe. You’ll end up with a slushy-smoothie hybrid that’s perfect for an outdoor summer brunch!
This is also a great smoothie for kids. My little one just had one this morning! Did you know watermelon is 92% water? It’s a great way to keep little ones hydrated after a sunny park visit as well. Watermelon is also full of fiber and vitamin C, both necessary for a healthy body. I love enjoying watermelon in drink form, but I’ve heard of people eating watermelon with a sprinkle of salt or in a savory salad. I haven’t tried either yet, but I’m intrigued. What’s your favorite way to enjoy watermelon in the summer?
