Banana pudding, pound cake, fresh bananas, and whipped cream are combined in this super simple recipe for Banana Pudding Trifle that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day you want to spoil the ones you love!
Oh Valentine’s Day…you’re such a tricky holiday. Is it a date night? Do you have kids to worry about? Are you spending it alone? And this year it falls on a Sunday? Who wants to worry about doing anything on a Sunday night other than dread that Monday morning is coming?
Whatever your Valentine’s Day plans – or lack thereof – I have you covered with a ridiculously simple dessert. No oven required. Very little time. Oh, and did I mention it’s kid-friendly, too? So, whether you’re eating it in front of Netflix or serving it to your family…I got you.
- 1½ cups cold milk
- 1 pkg (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding
- 1 small vanilla poundcake
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 tub whipped cream
- Whisk pudding and milk.
- Allow pudding to sit for at least five minutes.
- Chop pound cake into small squares.
- Layer pound cake, pudding, and bananas in trifle dishes.
- Top with whipped cream.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Use heart-shaped cookie cutter to create pound cake garnish.

Told you it was easy. If you can wield a whisk and a knife, you can make this.
I did two layers of pound cake, pudding, and bananas. How many layers you create will depend on the size of the dish you use. And the order of ingredients is totally not important. You really can’t mess this up. (And I totally bought a little pound cake from the bakery area at my grocery store. No actual baking required here.)
Whatever your plans, I hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day. And hey, even if your plans don’t include this banana pudding trifle, it’s suitable for St. Patrick’s Day…Easter…and basically any other day of the week.
