Learn how to make these Primal Greek Turkey Burgers by combining lean ground turkey with oregano, mint, and scallions. Served on lettuce and topped with feta and cucumbers, this grilled burger will satisfy all of your senses!
“These are the best turkey burgers I’ve ever had in my life” – my husband after one bite. JAW DROPPED. For a man that isn’t a fan of ground turkey, I think it’s safe to say I nailed it with these Primal Greek Turkey Burgers.
When we were first married and I was a newbie to domestic kitchen Goddessness, I tried to make his favorite meal (spaghetti) subbing ground beef for a super lean, ground turkey version. He won’t know the difference, I thought as I made a resolution to make our traditional meals healthier.
Bad move. Very bad move. Don’t ever sub anything when it’s your husband’s favorite. He WILL know. I gave the man turkey PTSD – seriously. And five years later, he still asks me if I’m making a meal with beef or turkey.
When I created these primal greek turkey burgers, I had to have a plan B for disaster control. Because if there’s no plan B, then that means he opts for a frozen pizza while my toddler starts chanting “pee-zah? pee-zah?” over and over as I try to convince him that the turkey burger, cucumbers, and apple slices are a better idea. So I did what any smart wife would do, I threw some brats on the grill…just in case the burgers got the veto.
Life is funny – sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. After the initial awe and praise for these juicy and flavorful greek turkey burgers, I immediately thought, ok these are SO good, I need to share these with the world, and ordered my husband to get his paws off the rest of the burgers so I could take some photos. This is the life of a food blogger people – ponder, create, then threaten death on anyone that touches the food you still need to photograph.
One of the things I love about these primal Greek turkey burgers is the option to customize them. Need a lean, low-carb meal? Wrap these burgers in romaine or bib lettuce leaves and nix the bun. Right smack dab in a Whole30® challenge or need a dairy-free option? Simply omit the feta! Want more ‘oomph’ to your burger? Add diced or sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, or roasted red peppers.
These burgers are the perfect summer grilling meal and reheat well for leftovers. Even my husband would agree – beats frozen pizza ANY day!
