That being said, a few years ago, I wasn’t a fan of Sea Bass. I didn’t know how to properly cook it, therefore I always preferred buying salmon. It wasn’t until I started experimenting with different seasonings that I discovered that by using simple ingredients, I can jazz up any recipe, even the most difficult ones.
Sea Bass is quite a unique fish. It’s melt-in-your mouth delightful taste is incomparable to any other white fish. To me, Sea Bass resembles a comfort fish. It has a buttery texture and rich flavor which comes just in time for colder weather when everyone craves comfort food.
Pan Seared Sea Bass with Brown Butter Caper Sauce
This 5-Ingredient Pan Seared Sea Bass with Brown Butter Caper Sauce doesn’t take long to prepare. Since we’re cooking it in the pan, you’re going to get a nice and crispy top. All you have to do is sprinkle the Sea Bass with salt and pepper and sear it for five minutes on each side. Simple and fast; satisfaction guaranteed.
Slightly acidic capers and brown butter enhance the flavor of the fish even more making it a delicious and quick restaurant-style meal made at home. This recipe pairs well with vegetable salads or roasted vegetables. Try roasting asparagus for an additional portion of healthy benefits. Just sprinkle asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper and roast at 400ºF for 15 minutes.

Ingredients
- 3 sea bass fillets
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon capers
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Put 2 tablespoons of butter in a small sauce pan and heat it on a medium-low heat.
- Swirl the butter occasionally to prevent from sticking to the bottom of a pan.
- When the butter turns amber in color and smells nutty, take it off the heat. It will take about 7 minutes. Add capers and set aside.
- Season sea bass on both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium pan and over medium heat. Cook sea bass for 5 minutes on each side.
- Drizzle with brown butter caper sauce and serve immediately!
Notes
Home Chef Tip: You can make this recipe with any other white fish like cod or halibut. You can also prepare Sea Bass in the oven. Season with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil and roast at 350ºF for 15 minutes.
