After months of tropical, summer-inspired drinks, I am ready for the warm, comforting cordials of fall. But who really wants to give up the flexibility and creativity of a good sangria? This Mulled Red Wine Sangria is the perfect cool weather solution to our cocktail dilemma!

We are finally starting to experience cooler nights in Arizona so my husband and I have been taking advantage by relaxing outside. We have a spacious balcony off our master bedroom that overlooks a green belt.

It is a serene place away from the bustle of the neighboring streets where we can unwind with a cocktail and catch up on the day’s events.

We have been making so many infused drinks lately, I have a post with DIY tips and flavor combos in the works, but the infusions aren’t ready yet! I need to make sure all my crazy ideas taste right. I just started a Spiced Plum Brandy that gets me all excited!

In the meantime, I wanted to share one of my favorite easy, party-friendly holiday drinks with you today.

Sweet summer sangria gets a fall make-over in this Mulled Red Wine Sangria full of seasonal apples, pears, oranges, mulling spices, and brandy. I like to use a hearty red wine like a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot because it balances out the sweetness of the liquor and fruit.

I love that in a sense, we are still infusing our cocktail, just in a different way!

This recipe is great to double or triple for large gatherings. You can simmer it in the slow cooker on the lowest setting for several hours.

Make batches in multiple slow cookers so you can rotate as they are emptied. I put one out for the crowd and keep another going in the casa kitchen. Once the first is gone, the second replaces it so I can make a new batch and so on.

Each batch has 8-10 glasses so keep that in mind when planning your gathering.
