Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, sitting down in the morning and eating as a family doesn’t happen as often as we’d like with busy schedules. Our weekends are usually spent at the beach, at the pool, or enjoying our latest addiction, hiking. So when planning breakfast, I am all about finding quick and wholesome breakfast options that will keep our bodies fueled throughout the day.
That is why this Make-Ahead Breakfast Trail Mix recipe is the perfect option for those on-the-go mornings. Packed with whole grains, dried fruits, and nuts, this provides my family with everything we need during our weekend adventures. Simply make the night before, wake up, and enjoy!
Besides breakfast, this also comes in handy while I’m running errands with my children who are apparently always “starving.” Seriously, they act like I never feed them. No matter where we’re at or if we just ate lunch, the phrase “I’m hungry” seems to always haunt me. Having a few bags of this Make-Ahead Breakfast Trail Mix recipe on me at all times has been such a lifesaver lately.
Make-Ahead Breakfast Trail Mix Recipe
What I love most about this trail mix is how simple it is to make. No baking and no syrups, just mix the ingredients together and go! Plus it only requires four ingredients. The inspiration came from my children, who are currently hooked on yogurt parfaits, but have you ever tried eating one in the car? Let’s just say I wouldn’t recommend it with small kids. With this Make-Ahead Breakfast Trail Mix recipe, they’re still able to enjoy their favorite yogurt, fruit, and nuts, but without the mess!
Ingredients
- 3 cups Honey Nut Chex™ cereal
- 1/2 cup dried mixed berries
- 1 cup yogurt covered raisins
- 1 cup raw almonds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients together.
- Store in air tight contained until ready to serve.
Notes
Home Chef Tip: Use a variety of fruits and nuts, like dried apricots or walnuts, to create your own breakfast masterpiece.

I have found it extremely helpful to make a large batch every week and divide into single servings. Whether we’re running out the door for errands, going on a hike as a family, or my husband is on his way to work, having breakfast readily available has been life changing. The best part is that we can switch up the ingredients at any time. So regardless of what your morning looks like, I guarantee your family will benefit from this make-ahead recipe too!
