Jalapeño Watermelon Slushie for Outdoor Entertaining
Blend some sweet watermelon with ice, a dash of lemon juice, your favorite herbs (mint and basil are wonderful with watermelon), and a wedge of spicy jalapeño pepper for a delicious warm weather treat. Yes, I said jalapeño. It’s a wonderful complement to the watermelon; the spicy-sweet flavor is the perfect way to chill. But do deseed the jalapeño if serving to kids or simply make a batch for them without the peppers. I promise you, this slushie is so good either way.
Can’t you see yourself with a glass of watermelon slushie in your hand by the pool or at a backyard barbecue party?
Ingredients
- 4 cups watermelon, chopped
- 2 cups lemon juice
- 6 leaves mint or basil
- 1 small jalapeño, deseeded
- 2 cups ice cubes
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients except ice in a blender until smooth. Add ice cubes and pulse until blended and thick. Serve immediately.
Notes
Home Chef Tip: For an adults-only beverage, add one ounce of vodka per serving. For a kid-friendly treat, omit the jalapeño from the recipe.
