How to Hull a Strawberry with a Straw

It is strawberry season in the south and we love picking them or buying them at our local farmers market. Beside just eating them plain, we also like adding them into drinks and stuffing them with a cream cheese filling and using them in desserts. If you aren’t sure how to hull a strawberry or you think it takes too much time, today’s kitchen hack will show you just how easily and quickly this can be done. There’s no mess and no fuss when you hull a strawberry with a straw. Since there are no knives required, this is a fun way to get the kids involved in the kitchen!

  1. Grab a sturdy plastic drinking straw.
  2. Wash and dry your strawberries.
  3. Thread the end of the straw through the bottom point of the strawberry. Push it vertically until it comes out at the top pushing out the calyx.
  4. Pull the straw all the way through the other end, grab the hull, and discard it.
