Get creative and have fun when you and the kids make these Gluten-Free Apple Cookies. A kid-friendly dessert that also serves as a healthy after-school snack. With just three ingredients, you can’t go wrong!
These Apple Cookies are a healthy, kid-friendly snack making them the perfect summer treat for everyone. If you’re like us and you have your little ones home, you’ve likely already heard the dreaded phase 195,739,291,038 times. “I’m hungry. I want a snack.” They could have literally just sat down to have a 10-course breakfast, and within 15 minutes of finishing, they are hungry for a snack. My mind nor my wallet can fathom what is going on here. I mean, they don’t get all this during school days, so why now. Nah, you know what, you’re just bored. I’m going to pull a play from my parent’s playbook and just tell them to go outside and come back when the street lights come on at dusk. (Anyone else remember that!?)
How do you answer the question, “Can I have a snack”?
It’s inevitable though. They are going to want a snack (multiple if we’re being honest), so the least we can do is make it healthy. These delicious, naturally Gluten-Free Apple Cookies do just that. Bonus points that they are insanely versatile and you can spread and top with pretty much everything you can think of or pull out of the pantry.
Today, we’re giving you three ideas for delicious apple cookies you’re kids will love. Not only is this recipe super easy to make, once the apple slices are cut, a child can make this all alone. They are super delicious and can be as healthy as you want them to be.
Chocolate Walnut Apple Cookie
The Chocolate Walnut Apple Cookie combines a chocolate hazelnut spread with chopped walnuts and coconut flakes. Kids love chocolate, so it’s inevitable they will love this one, but make it healthier by using a palm oil free chocolate spread and combining with healthy fats from the walnuts. Use unsweetened coconut flakes for less sugar.
Orange Cashew Apple Cookie
For this apple cookie, we combined our homemade Orange Dream Fruit Dip with orange zest and chopped cashews. The combination of orange and cashews blends together perfectly. It’s like summer in one bite! The kids will love the sweetness from the fruit dip, but it’s healthier by making it homemade.
Chocolate Almond Apple Cookie
What little one doesn’t like chocolate!? For this chocolate almond apple cookie, we spread almond butter across the apple, then topped with chopped almond and chocolate chips. Use a dark chocolate for a healthier, but still deliciously sweet treat.
No matter which one you choose, we know these are a hit with littles! Feel free to get creative too and let them make their own. We love using a sweet apple like fuji or pink lady apples for natural sweetness. Need even more apple cookie ideas? Check out our other four ideas for apple cookies you can try!
