If you’ve overindulged and your body’s in need of a reset, this Ginger Turmeric Mango Smoothie is for you! Packed with superfoods, this is a healthy breakfast and detox drink in one. Only six ingredients and one step to a refreshed day!
Ever feel like your body needs a reset? Whether you overindulged on vacation or had a little too much fun the night before, it is totally normal to sometimes want a quick detox. Should you find yourself in that situation, this Ginger Turmeric Mango Smoothie should do the trick!
The ingredients in this smoothie are very simple, and the recipe is naturally vegan, gluten free, and refined sugar free. All you need to make this detox drink is fresh mango, an orange (or clementines), fresh ginger, ground turmeric, ground cardamom, and almond milk.
Why use Turmeric?
Turmeric, while mostly known for the golden yellow color it gives curry dishes, has so many wonderful health properties. Did you know that turmeric helps to detox your liver, has the ability to kill cancer cells in the body, and protects your brain from Alzheimer’s disease? Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric and it has very strong anti-inflammatory properties.
How does ginger help your body?
Ginger, too, has many medicinal benefits. It can reduce nausea and help aid in digestion. When paired with turmeric in this smoothie, you have a nutrition powerhouse!
Most people find turmeric to taste extremely bitter, which is why just a small amount is used in this smoothie. If you are feeling bold and want to reap even more of turmeric’s benefits, feel free to add an extra 1/8 teaspoon.
Why add mango and oranges?
While mangoes have many health properties, I’ve added them to this detox drink for glowing skin and the fresh flavor they add. Oranges, as we all know, are packed with Vitamin C and the citrus flavor in this smoothie takes it over the top!
