This Cranberry Halloween Bloody Martini is made with cranberry purée, vodka, and sweet vermouth. This spooky twist on the classic Vodka Martini will be a hit at all of your adults-only parties this year!
‘Tis the season for Halloween, and that means Halloween parties! One of my favorite new Halloween traditions is creating a Halloween-themed cocktail for guests to enjoy alongside the usual drinks. What’s creepier than a cocktail glass that’s dripping with blood, and appears to have blood in it too? This delicious bloody cranberry martini is sweet, red, and spooky when it’s paired with a candy coated glass. The cranberry flavor leaves you feeling festive for the fall season, and it lends the perfect shade of dark red for this new take on a classic vodka martini that would definitely attract a vampire.
Cranberry Halloween Bloody Martini
In order to make this drink as spooky as possible for Halloween, I thought cranberry purée would be the perfect way to create a thicker cocktail that looks more like blood than regular cranberry juice. While this isn’t your average martini recipe, you and your Halloween guests will enjoy it all the same! The tart, sweetened cranberry purée and sweet vermouth balance out the flavors. Combine that with orange liqueur and vodka to create a Halloween-themed cocktail that tastes completely unique, not to mention potent.
So, how do you make your martini glasses drip blood? The trick is candy! Making this candy coating is very easy, but remember to always be careful not to burn yourself. The perfect drip took me two tries, but it’s truly as easy as dipping the glass in candy just like you would coat a margarita glass with salt. Plus, because it’s just hard candy, it tastes delicious too! You can even try adding another flavor to the candy that might pair with the cocktail, but I left it plain so as not to distract from the cranberry martini flavors.
I hope you’re ready to celebrate Halloween with the vampires with this bloody martini! Looking for another spooky Halloween drink? Try my sparkling green chemical cocktail served in Erlenmeyer flasks or beakers!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp light corn syrup
- Red food dye
- 2 tbsp canned whole cranberries
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
- 1/2 oz orange liqueur
Instructions
- Combine the sugar and corn syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Watch carefully and stir occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved and mixture begins to bubble.
- Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring until desired color is reached.
- To coat the martini glasses, carefully dip the rim of a glass into the candy and turn upright, allowing the candy to drip down the sides and set aside to harden (about 3 minutes).
- Blend canned cranberry mixture in a food processor until completely smooth.
- Combine the puréed cranberry, vodka, vermouth, and orange liqueur in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared martini glasses. Serve cold.
Notes
Home Chef Tip: For easy cleaning, boil water to pour over the candy-making pot to melt away the mess before it sticks! To clean bloody martini glasses after use, soak in hot water for about 10 minutes to remove candy.
