These simple, crafty Miniature Easter Cakes are a festive way to celebrate with family. Made with store-bought pound cake, these semi-homemade cakes are the perfect size for small hands to decorate.
Easter is a special holiday that brings my entire family together. With five children at home, I love to create unique treats for them. Since I do have several little ones, my concoctions require simple and easy techniques. This year, I put together these Crafty Miniature Easter Cakes using a few shortcuts for delectable treats that aren’t just fun for kids, but a treat everyone will enjoy.
Crafty Miniature Easter Cakes Recipe
To start, I took a loaf of store-bought, frozen angel food cake and sliced it into thirds, long ways. Using the store-bought loaf saves me time, and allows me to pull it all together just a few hours before the event, which also saves a little bit of stress.
Next I used Easter and spring-themed cookie cutters to cut out small shapes from the cake. These little cakes can also easily transition to other holidays and birthdays by simply swapping the cookie cutter shapes, but they’ve always been a little Easter tradition in my home.
After that, I placed the cakes on a small rack over a baking sheet to catch any drips.
Then I used melting candy and drizzled it over each cake. Bright and fun spring colors like pink, purple, and white are perfect for Easter.
In addition, I also added a few little candy flower embellishments for more beauty.
Then I let the candy harden for several hours before serving. In the past, I’ve popped them into the refrigerator to harden more quickly.
Once the candy shell has hardened around the cake, they become these beautifully-covered treats that look positively tempting, and are super festive for the Easter holiday.
Simple recipes like these Crafty Miniature Easter Cakes are some of my favorites to create as a busy mom. They allow me to add a touch of homemade to store-bought items.
These Miniature Easter Cakes are the perfect individually-sized servings, making them a great solution for Easter potlucks, family events, or any entertaining situation the holiday brings my way.
