If you follow my blog, then you probably already know that my husband and I love our garden! We have blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry bushes growing in our yard. There are also quite a few herbs growing in pots and boxes. Not to mention, apple trees and a few vegetable plants as well.
You might even say that our backyard provided a little inspiration for this recipe for Very Berry Wine Slushies. Not only do we have plenty of fresh berries to enjoy, but our backyard has become one of our favorite places to be during the summer months, especially with a cool drink in hand on a warm night!
Very Berry Wine Slushies – A Summer Cocktail Recipe
As we approach the official start of summer, it’s time to start thinking about different ways to cool down when it’s hot and humid. Whether you’re hanging by the pool or gathering in the backyard for a barbecue, these Very Berry Wine Slushies will be a “berry” fun way to chill out this summer!
These wine slushies remind me of the slushies I used to get from the convenient store as a kid. They were always so refreshing on a really hot day! Of course, red wine adds a fun adult twist on a childhood favorite.
Merlot is one of my favorite wines to enjoy. It’s a dry, fruity, red wine with a smooth finish. It balances really well with the sweetness of the berries in this slushie. Of course, you could pair another red wine of your choosing in this recipe instead. These Very Berry Wine Slushies can easily be modified to suit your taste.
Ingredients
- 12 oz Merlot, or other red wine
- 1 12-oz frozen berry juice blend
- 1 cup mixed fresh raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries
- 4 cups of ice cubes
- Whipped cream
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Add Merlot and fruit juice to a blender and blend until combined.
- Blend in mixed berries.
- Gradually add ice cubes and blend until thick, but smooth.
- Pour slushies into a wine glass. Leave room to add a dollop of whipped cream.
- Garnish with additional berries and fresh mint leaves.
Notes
Home Chef Tips: 1. Use a frozen berry mix so you can use less ice instead! 2. Omit the Merlot for a kid-friendly homemade berry slushie!

These Very Berry Wine Slushies are the perfect, refreshing summer drink that’s almost like a dessert in a glass! Serve them at your next outdoor gathering or during summer holidays.
