If you have a small living space, these 4 tiny house hacks to maximize space will alter your world! Learn which gadgets to use, how to downsize, and how to organize for healthy habits.
We all have those moments of… how the heck do I maximize space in a tiny house? I live in a van so, tiny space living in my jam. Today I am sharing how I maximize space in a tiny house. You’ll learn which gadgets I use, how I organize, and the best methods to organize for healthy habits!
1 – How to Downsize
Oh no, not the dreaded word. Hear me out, living in and learning to maximize space in a tiny house can be enjoyable. While it’s a different way of life, you can do it and excel at it! Go through your silverware drawer, cups, mugs, random corn stabbers, and pineapple cutters and donate what isn’t a necessity. Replace all those lost Tupperware lids for a good set of glassware. Before you know it, you’ll have three free drawers for other items you need in your tiny space.
2 – Thrift/Shop Around
This is the fun part, you’ve downsized and have your must-have items. I love to go to the thrift store in search of baskets, bins, mason jars, and spice containers. Organize items – like with like – so you always know where everything is. Chips, crackers, and rice cakes can all go together. Dressings and oils can fit into one basket. Protein powder, superfood mixers, and smoothie add ins go perfectly together in a small basket. I love to put glass straws, bamboo utensils, and teaspoons in mason jars. Tea bags also fit perfectly into mason jars! First, you’ll save money by thrifting. Then, you’ll avoid frustration when everything would otherwise be stacked up in an endless pile.
3 – Buy What You Need
One of the best things you can do to maximize space in a tiny house is to avoid hoarding or buying too much of anything. I get it, sometimes the gluten-free crackers are on mega sale and you have the urge to buy 10 boxes. Just avoid it! You sacrifice some things when living in a tiny space and stock piling food is one of them. Buy fruit and veggies fresh weekly. Look through your seasonings before you buy that third jar of cinnamon. Before you buy ANOTHER mug at that cute thrift store down the street, ask yourself if you need/have room for another. Mostly, be conscious of what you have and what you need. This will free up tons of space in your tiny kitchen.
4 – How to Organize For Healthy Habits
This hack is my favorite because by simply placing healthier items in more accessible areas, you can change your habits! I encourage my clients to place items like sprouted nuts/seeds, coconut butter, and Perfect Bars in front of items like chips, dip, or candy. If your eye sees it first, you’re inclined to grab it first. Transfer dry goods into pretty glass jars with labels; make your space yours. You’ll enjoy living this healthy lifestyle and it will be simpler!
