This Rosé Sangria recipe is a light and fruity summer cocktail that’s perfect for using those fresh farmers market finds. Serve this refreshing drink for Sunday brunch or outdoor entertaining and you’re sure to impress guests!
Hi everyone, I’m Sara Maniez from Life’s Little Sweets. Summer is right around the corner and I have the perfect summer sipper for those hot, languid days, this Rosé Sangria.
You can choose your favorite summer berries and fruit. In this case, I chose strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, and lime.
You can add a splash of lime juice if you want, however, I feel that with all this fruit, as long as you give it enough time to marinate – at least a half hour or overnight for maximum effect – it will be plenty fruity.
How to make Rosé Sangria
I suggest choosing a rosé wine that is not too sweet and somewhat dry because you are adding all the fruit that brings out the natural sugar that comes with it.
I found a $10 (on sale) rosé that my local wine store recommended (The Pinot Project is the name of the wine brand) which is inexpensive and tastes lovely. It’s not overly sweet and it’s light with those citrus/fruity notes that lend themselves to sangria anyway. This wine is perfect on its own and also perfect infused with fresh fruit!
Presentation is everything when you’re entertaining!
For Mother’s Day, my mother in law gave me this awesome serving container (pictured below) and I knew I had to break it in on this Rosé Sangria recipe.
There are so many similar serving containers out there that I have seen in the shops that would work as well. I love a container (or pitcher) which is clear for this recipe because then you can see the fruit inside. Make sure you can open the top easily for scooping out the fruit to add to the wine glasses.
The neat thing about these kinds of containers is that you can prep the recipe ahead of time, the day before, and have everything chilled and ready to go when you need it.
You can chill the wine glasses 5-10 minutes before serving so that they are cold and frosty. I would add the ice cubes when you are serving to avoid diluting the wine. The last thing we want is watery wine!
Don’t forget the garnish!
I used fresh thyme sprigs to garish this Rosé Sangria for serving. If you want to get your thyme sprigs ahead of time, you can freeze them if you are getting them in advance and are worried they are going to go bad.
If you are having a potluck-style gathering, this is also an easy recipe to assign to someone to bring because it requires minimal effort, ingredients, and is self-contained for transport.
Ingredients
- 1-3 limes (1 sliced for the sangria, 1 sliced for garnishing, 1 sliced into wedges to spritz into the wine for serving), amount to taste
- 1 apple, sliced
- 1 pint blueberries
- 6 oz (170 grams) blackberries
- 16 oz (1 pound/454 grams) strawberries, tops cut off and quartered
- 1-2 bottles of Rosé wine (not too sweet, dry to moderately dry selection), I used 750 ml size bottles
Instructions
- Wash the fruit.
- Core and slice the apple, strawberries, and limes.
- Add the fruit into the desired serving container, pour the Rosé over top, and allow it to marinate for at least a 1/2 hour or overnight before serving.
- Scoop the marinated fruit into the wine glasses and pour the rosé wine in the chilled glasses.
- Serve with ice, spritz with lime wedges, and garnish with lime slices and thyme sprigs. Enjoy!
Notes
Home Chef Tip: 1. Allow to marinate at least 30 minutes to overnight before serving. 2. Chill wine glasses 5-10 minutes before serving to make this drink extra icy and cool!
