This One-Skillet Italian Sausage Macaroni is hearty, flavorful, and ready in 30 minutes! Italian sausage, vegetables, pasta, and cheese blend together beautifully to make this simple dish with easy clean up.
Is it just me or do the hours seem to pass by quicker after 3:00 pm? Before I know it, it’s 5:00 pm and I have no idea what I’m making for dinner! This is why I’ve become a huge fan of one-pot/one-skillet recipes. Not only do they cut down on dishes, but they tend to be quick to put together and involve only a few simple ingredients.
One-Skillet Italian Sausage Macaroni Recipe
Take this One-Skillet Italian Sausage Macaroni, for example. With a few simple ingredients, it can be ready in 30 minutes, including prep time. If you do the prep time before hand, mainly dicing onions and mincing garlic, you can even cut that time in half! It’s not going to get any better than that, people.
The recipe begins by sautéing the onions with Italian sausage. I used Italian sausage that was in casing, so if you’re doing the same, make sure to remove the casing first. Then you can break it up in the skillet to get more bite-sized pieces. After that, you add the rest of the ingredients, reduce to simmer, cover and come back in 15 minutes for a delicious and warm meal that everyone will love.
You may have noticed that I added some broccoli. I wanted to make it a more nutritious dish and I love the combination of broccoli and pasta. For any broccoli-averse eaters, this dish is so flavorful, you won’t even notice it’s there. Of course, you can customize the One-Skillet Italian Sausage Macaroni and switch out the broccoli with other veggies and the macaroni with another pasta cut. How about zucchini with penne or mushrooms with bowtie? The most important thing is to stick with the measurements so you don’t end up with pasta that’s not cooked enough or cooked too much.
If all of that deliciousness wasn’t enough, once everything is cooked, top the hot pasta off with some shredded cheese for an ooey, gooey cheesy experience. YUM!
I’d recommend making a double batch because your eaters WILL be asking for seconds and WILL request it for lunch the next day.
